"Magh-er seet baghe-o dorai "
( Even the tiger fears the cold of Magha )
A Bengali saying in Tripura, India. Very old saying. In the Bengali calendar month of Magha (December - January ) this region experiences coldest weather of the year. Why only humans, they say even the tiger is fearful of bone-biting , chilling cold at this time of the year. They have seen dead tigers due to this extreme cold. ( But times are changing. Due to global warming, no longer there is such extreme weather seen nowadays in the region. And tigers have vanished into thin air even long before. The saying may have been true 70-80 years ago, but no longer now )
