Battala is well known landmark place in Agartala city. The name Battala gets its name from a big 'Bot' tree which you can see there in the middle of four-lane crossing north-east of 'Bangla Market'. The place Battala is very important in terms of business and communication. All road journeys to Bishalgarh and South Tripura starts from here. All farm produce coming to the Agartala city from South Tripura goes through this centre. A road from Battala also leads to Akhaura border check-point ( India-Bangladesh). There is a huge market in Battala area where you can shop for all kinds of Chinese make electronic goods smuggled from across Bangladesh . That's why it is popularly known as 'Bangla' market.
