Buses are Indians' favourite means of transport, no doubt. They rattle along country roads taking the villagers to melas or screeches through the cities overloaded with office-goers clinging to sides and backs, and shirts-tails of other passengers ! They come in every sizes and shapes and conditions, from dilapidated double-deckers to maniacal minibuses.
Even though they look comical to the onlookers and the world, nevertheless they constitute the cheapest possible mass public transport system in the world ! Unfortunately, the bus drivers' notoriety to plough into pedestrians and drive off the bridges also makes them amongst the most dangerous !
