U-Morok, Bhut Jolokia ( Ghost Chilli), King Chilli ( Raja Mirchi )

.

Warning  !   This is the world's hottest chilli.

U-Morok literally means U="tree",   Morok="Chilli" in Manipuri language.

This chilli is mainly grown in Manipur ( that too in only 2 districts ) and a few parts of Assam and Nagaland in north-eastern States of India.

In Assam it is called Bhut Jolokia or Ghost Chilli.   And in Nagaland it is called Raja Mirchi or King Chilli.

U-Morok is mainly used in curries, pickles and chutney.     The Guinness World Records has recognized it as the hottest chilli in the world !

In 2007, Guinness World Records certified that this ghost pepper (U-Morok) was the world's hottest chilli pepper, 900.5 times hotter than Tabasco sauce.   This U-Morok is rated at more than 1 million Scoville Heat Units (SHUs).                    ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bhut_jolokia  )

According to wikipedia, just one seed of U-Morok is enough to cause intense burning sensation in the mouth for 30 minutes.    Hotness level ranges from 6,61,451 SHU for green fruit to 10,32,310 SHU for ripe fruit.

Fresh U-morok has an aroma that most people like.  The chilli is valued for its heat, its flavour and its purported medicinal qualities.

Finally, its world record fiery hotness has inspired some Indian scientists at DRDO to think of using it in grenades for police and paramilitary forces for crowd control.

I told you it is HOT.  Anymore explanation ?
