DD News ~ Some Disgusting Things !

DD News, being a part of national broadcaster the Doordarshan, is very important to we Indians. We turn to DD News for authentic, reliable and exclusive news. But, unfortunately, nowadays I find some disgusting things about DD news. Consider the followings...

Words they use:
Now, the DD News reader says to you "Namaskaar !". Is this really a Hindi word or a Sanskrit word ?
We have all grown up learning in the schools to greet people saying "Namaste!". We're told that this is a Sanskrit word meaning "I recognize God in you".  We're also told that it is an Indian way of greeting people.  Very very interestingly,  in a recent programme in the DD News channel itself, a Russian girl learning Indian classical dance under supervision of Indian guru, was talking with the DD News reporter.  And know how she started ?  "Namaste ! mera naam hai Helena...".  Now, who is correct ?  The newsreader on the national broadcasting channel or that little Russian girl ?  Please tell me.

Another word often used in DD Hindi news nowadays is "darkaar".  Is this really a pure Hindi word ?  By this word the newsreader is actually trying mean "necessary" in Hindi.  From my childhood I am watching Doordarshan news, but only in recent times this peculiar word "darkaar" is being used.  Earlier in good old days Doordarshan used the word "zaroorat" or "abashyak" or "gunzaish"  etc.

Forgive me if I am wrong for I do not come from Hindi speaking region in India and it is also not my mother tongue.  Just my curiosity or confusion in my mind.  Despite this fact, I cannot say I am totally ignorant about Hindi language.

Musical Headlines !
What the hell it is ?  Volume of this music accompanying the "headlines" is so high that one can barely listen to what the newsreader is saying.  All we can hear is ear-bursting "tabla & violin" and no headlines !  The other day, DD News "headlines" included a sad news about demise of a hugely popular and respected political leader of the country.  Does this "sad headlines" deserve  to be accompanied by that bloody  ear-bursting "tabla & violin" music ?   Celebrations ?

Where have gone all those calm and graceful lady newsreaders ?

Remember Salma Sultana ?  Woh ! that graceful lady who used to present us Doordarshan news in good old days.  With that sweet and deep voice, looking serious from start to end, she knew it was her duty only to present  the news staying calm all along, offering no sign of expression that she herself was also enjoying the news ( good or sad ).  We  miss you, Salma !

Today the picture is horrible.  Sometimes newsreaders are seen enjoying the news they are reading  and  they themselves look excited. Why ?   They sometimes even flirt with the guests seated beside them during the newscast.  They pronounce words forcefully too many  too often unnecessarily, which is very distasteful.  And they pronouce names of senior political leaders & Ministers by their first names or surnames only,  without adding 'Shri' or 'Mr' before them.  What kind of Indian culture is this when a newsreader in the age group of your chindren or grandchildren calling you by your first name or surname ? For example : suppose Lalu Prasad Paswan is a Union Minister and he is 75 years old.  Now, the DD newsreaders ( age 35- 40) presenting a news : "Lalu ne kaha yeh nahin hoga, woh nahin hoga..."  English news:  "Lalu further said....."     There is no 'Shri' or 'Mr' before the name.  The said  Minister is 40-45 years older  than the DD newsreader and holding a high office in the country.   Is this Indian culture ?
