Smt. Sushma Swaraj has all the qualities required to hold that top post. Thanks to her mentor Shri A B Vajpayee, former Indian PM, she is an impressive orator. ( One thing about the BJP party is that their leaders are very good orators, speak in very clear voice and terms ( unlike leaders of other parties) and therefore very popular with layman and general public.

She looks glamorous, too. It helps in Indian politics. In India, you can attract lakhs of votes if you are a woman politician and glamorous.
Her eligibility as Prime Ministerial candidate is beyond argument, but whether her party could in near future get the numbers to form the government is doubtful.

In that case, however, she will have to continue to enrich parliamentary discussions / debates with her enviable, excellent oratory as Opposition Leader.

6 Dec 2012 : A couple of days back Sushmaji made an interesting remarks relating to FDI in retail debate. She was apparently making her party's stand on the issue. Voting has become unavoidable on the issue. Her remark to ruling UPA Govt.: " Hum aapko hara ke jeetna nahin chahte, hum aapko mana ke jeetna chahte hain !"
