She is born to sing. All types of songs she has sung in life: popular romantic Hindi songs for hundreds of films, semi-classical Ghazals ( songs of longing and desire ), Bhajans ( songs in praise of God), patriotic album songs. She also sung hundreds of popular filmy / non-filmy songs in Indian regional languages.
I have a long list of favourite songs by Lata Mangeshkar, but this one is special for me. Whenever I find time, I listen to this song...

She is in the Guinness Book of Records having sung the maximum number of songs in the world. The grateful country has awarded her with the highest civilian award, the Bharat Ratna in 2001.

" Rangeela re, tere rang mein yun ranga hain mera mann....." The song is from Bollywood film " Prem Pujari ". Music composed by late S. D. Burman, the legendary Indian music composer.
Why she has remained unmarried to this date is a mystery. And also why she always sings barefoot ??
